Matariki at the Christchurch Irish Club
Thank you so much to all those who joined us for Matariki at the Christchurch Irish Club!
We had a blast celebrating the Māori New Year with crafts, an information treasure hunt, a quiet space upstairs for reflecting and making wishes, and topped it off with a delicious Hangi. It was fantastic seeing new faces and catching up with friends. Thank you to all those members who helped make this a successful event.
Matariki at the Christchurch Irish Club
Join us THIS Saturday 29th June to Celebrate Matariki
Time: 4pm - 6:15pm
Location: Christchurch Irish Club, 29 Domain Terrace, Spreydon
Cost: Adult - $20 / Child 12-18yrs - $10 / Under 12yrs - $5
This year we will be learning about the Matariki cluster and what they represent with a parent/child activity - an information treasure hunt! It is an activity for all. We will also have lots of other activities available such as string art with wool, wood and cardboard, colouring in and scratch art, along with reflecting on loved ones, and a wishing tree.
We will then enjoy a Hangi for dinner at 5pm. This event will be limited to 50 people.
It's important to the Chch Irish Society to continue exploring the links and connections that the Irish and Māori cultures have with each other, and therefore we thought it would be fitting to have an evening with Kai (food) and activities where we can all learn.

This Saturday is the big Whiskey & Gin Tasting Event
We just wanted to remind our membership that there are only a few days left to purchase tickets to the Whiskey & Gin Tasting Event that has been organised by Kieran. This is a fantastic fundraiser with all proceeds going to Hato Hone St John. Hato Hone St John is the frontline Medical Response, providing Ambulance services throughout New Zealand, also providing First Aid training, event medical services, AED's, First Aid kits, medical alarms, Youth Training and a wide range of Community programmes. We have had a great response from local Gin suppliers who are right behind this fundraiser for Hato Hone St John.
Date & Time: Sat 8th June at 7:30pm
Where: 29 Domain Terrace, Spreydon

Whiskey and Gin Tasting Event
EXCITING NEWS! I (Kieran) have been invited to star in the Adventure All Stars “LEGENDS” television show - the world’s only socially conscious TV travel series. I previously filmed with the show in November 2019 and the Producers are bringing back the best of-the-best, including me! BONUS: pre- filming I’ll be fundraising for a charitable cause I’m very passionate about, which is the Hato Hone St John Charity. We are kicking off the fundraising with a Whiskey & Gin Tasting event. Follow this link to my fundraising page if you would like to make a donation.
Get ready to tantalise your taste buds with a selection of exquisite whiskies and gins, mixed with some fun stories.
Where: 29 Domain Terrace, Spreydon, Christchurch (Chch Irish Club)
Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to sample a variety of top-notch spirits and support a great cause. Silent auctions and raffles will be available on the night.
Please note this is an R18 event.
Due to host responsibility when purchasing tickets each ticket holder can only have 1 type of ticket i.e. whiskey or gin, not both. Each Whiskey/Gin will be paired with a bite sized arrangement from Mark McCraken from Comber Cuisine. We encourage a good meal before attending. Let's have a fun night we can remember!

This weekend Imelda and Anne ran a womens workshop in the clubrooms.
It was an engaging and fun way to learn more about Mindsets and Menopause. Imelda spoke about mindsets, mindfulness and took us through an exercise which helped us ladies press the reset button. It was great to learn a new tool, which was a practical way of helping us to feel less stressed, more relaxed and grounded in that moment. Anne is a womens health expert and spoke to us about Menopause. Often a taboo topic, it was a fun and relaxed way to have a conversation about what every woman will, is, or has experienced. We took away helpful information about the things that we can do to help us through this period of our lives and practical steps that we can take to reduce the discomfort during this time.
Thank you Imelda and Anne for putting this workshop together for us, every woman came away feeling a bit more refreshed, informed and hopeful. We also want to say a big thank you for donating the proceeds of the workshop towards the Giles family and Tadhg's recovery. It is an incredible help and I know that they were so grateful.
